Focus of the surveys
The annual U.S.
compensation survey focuses on management positions in even-years
and professional and program staff in odd-years. The survey is
designed for the use and benefit of members of the Alliance
for Children and Families, American Association of Children's Residential
Centers (AACRC) and United
Neighborhood Centers
of America (UNCA). Member agencies are invited to participate in the
survey during the month of January. Nearly 300 private, nonprofit human
service organizations participate each year.
“I see it as one
of the most useful benefits of membership in the Alliance.”
Marilyn Henry, executive director, Personal & Family Counseling Services
of Tuscarawas Valley, New Philadelphia, OH
The published report
As with the survey, the
focus of the report alternates: even-years examine management positions and odd-years examine
professional and program staff. Each report provides a breakdown of employee
position salaries by budget size, staffing levels, education and region.
Organizational and benefit information (health and insurance plans,
retirement plans, and paid leave) are detailed in the report every year.
Even-year reports include a special section detailing CEO benefits. In
addition to providing descriptive information for the survey year,
survey-to-survey trends are identified in the report.
A complimentary copy
of the published report is sent to the agencies that participated in the
survey, usually in June. Participating agencies that would like to obtain additional
copies of the report (as well as other interested agencies or individuals)
can purchase the report for a fee ($75 for members or $150 for non-members;
does not include shipping and handling charges).
“No human service human resource manager
or CEO should be without it.”
Ray
D’Orsi, human resource program manager at Family
Service Association of Greater Fall River, Fall River, MA
